Three elite rice varieties were exposed to the stress treatment of NaCl and NaHCO_ 3 with different pH values and concentrations during the seedlings growth stages , then the fresh weight , malomldehyde ( MDA ), Proline ( Pro ) content and root vigour change were detected .

The main conclusions were as follows : 1.Identification of the drought resistance at germination stage : The seed germination index , seedling rate , embryo length , radicle length , embryo dry weight , radicle dry weight declined after simulating drought stress of PEG .
