However, the contents in books were far from enough to satisfy Yan"s hunger for knowledge, so he enrolled in a research program in my laboratory. At first, considering he was an undergraduate student, I only assigned him some relatively simple work. To my surprise, he completed these tasks quickly and easily. He was not afraid of new challenges and later he participated in a larger program, “Digital Controller for thyristor based on DSP”. He showed a great working and learning potential from the tasks he had accomplished. His combined background in circuit theory and computer engineering, and his fast-learning ability have built solid foundation for handling his job successfully.

Finally, Mr. Wang"s other personality traits will also benefit his future study. He knows how to cooperate with other people while he works in a team, and he is also very independent in his own tasks. He seeks out and graciously accepts feedback about his work. Mr. Wang has ever taken my course, Intelligent Control, in 2008. Through our talk, I found that he had a very solid mathematical and logical background. Once, he told me that the Information Theory in the 4-element Structure of Intelligent Control System can be used to explain the classify of IC systems. I thought his thoughts were very unique and creative. Also he demonstrated his operative skills in experiments and researches, with excellent ability of analyzing and could use different methods proficiently to solve problems. Consequently, Mr. Wang did quite well all through the semester and won him a very high score in my course.

As to personal character, he is polite, generous, cooperative, and easy of access. All these merits, especially his unusual diligence and intelligence, and his strong capability to study and research independently, benefit him much. I have also found he is very considerate and patient and always comes with a smile, making him welcome anywhere he goes.

I used to work in University of Nevada, Purdue University and Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute as a visiting scholar for several years. I believe his perception and creativity will be very beneficial to his future studies and research.

As a very brilliant young man, Mr. Wang has an extremely assiduous attitude toward work. Due to his extraordinary diligence and internal desire to study, he was able to keep ranking top 5 in the comprehensive assessment of students in his class. In addition, he participated in many academic activities related to automatic control system, and was recognized for his strength in programming using C, C++, VB, Matlab and so on.
