然而，神正要使用这件偶然发生的事，来扭转末底改的劣势。

But God wanted to use this unlikely incident to turn to Mordecai 's remarkable advantage .

书珊城有一个犹大人，名叫末底改，是便雅悯人基士的曾孙，示每的孙子，睚珥的儿子。

In Shushan the palace there was a certain Jew , whose name [ was ] Mordecai , the son of Jair , the son of Shimei , the son of Kish , a Benjamite ;

以斯帖就吩咐人回报末底改说。

Then Esther sent them back to Mordecai with this answer .

于是末底改照以斯帖一切所吩咐的去行。

So Mordecai went away and did everything as Esther had said .

惟独末底改不跪不拜。

But Mordecai bowed not , nor did him reverence .

末底改被擢升至首相的高位；

Mordecai was elevated to the position of Prime Minister .

王在查问之下，才发现他还没有赏赐末底改。

Upon inquiry , the king discovered that Mordecai had never been rewarded .

人就把以斯帖这话告诉末底改。

And they said these words to mordecai .

于是人将哈曼挂在他为末底改所预备的木架上。

So they hanged Haman on the gallows that he had prepared for Mordecai .

王后以斯帖听闻末底改的哀恸，却不明所以。

When Queen Esther heard of Mordecai 's condition , she couldn 't understand it .

告诉末底改，集合所有犹太人。

Tell Mordecai to assemble the jews .

末底改也来到王面前，因为以斯帖已经把末底改是她什么亲属，告诉了王。

And Mordecai came before the king , for Esther had disclosed what he was to her .

末底改不用再穿麻衣、蒙灰，哈曼却要为他穿上朝服；

Instead of wearing sackcloth and ashes , Haman had to dress Mordecai in a royal robe .

早上他和妻子还密谋奏请王命，把末底改挂在木架上，如今却落得几乎自取其辱。

What had started that morning as a plot to hang Mordecai , had finished with Haman almost disgraced .

以斯帖未曾将籍贯宗族告诉人，因为末底改嘱咐她不可叫人知道。

Esther had not revealed her nationality and family background , because Mordecai had forbidden her to do so .

只是我见犹大人末底改坐在朝门，虽有这一切荣耀，也与我无益。

But all this is nothing to me while I see Mordecai the Jew seated by the king 's doorway .

第二次招聚处女的时候，末底改坐在朝门。

And when the virgins were gathered together the second time , then Mordecai sat in the king 's gate .

哈曼见末底改不向他屈身下拜，就非常忿怒。

And when Haman saw that Mordecai bowed not , nor did him reverence , then was Haman full of wrath .

哈曼见末底改不跪不拜，他就怒气填胸。

And when Haman saw that Mordecai did not go down before him and give him honour , Haman was full of wrath .

不单末底改立即用各种方式表示自己的哀痛；谕旨宣达之处，犹大人都禁食哀哭。

Not only did Mordecai put on every sign of mourning , but wherever the decree was published , the Jews reacted with fasting and weeping .

末底改天天在女院前边行走，要知道以斯帖平安不平安，并后事如何。

And Mordecai walked every day before the court of the women 's house , to know how Esther did , and what should become of her .

亚比孩的女儿王后以斯帖，和犹大人末底改以全权写第二封信，坚嘱犹大人守这普珥日。

Then Esther the queen , the daughter of Abihail , and Mordecai the Jew , wrote with all authority , to confirm this second letter of Purim .

末底改记录这事，写信与亚哈随鲁王各省远近所有的犹大人

And Mordecai wrote these things , and sent letters unto all the Jews that were in all the provinces of the king Ahasuerus , both nigh and far

从前巴比伦王尼布甲尼撒，将犹大王耶哥尼雅（又名约雅斤）和百姓从耶路撒冷掳去，末底改也在其内。

Who had been carried away from Jerusalem with the captivity which had been carried away with Jeconiah king of Judah , whom Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon had carried away .

And the king took off his ring , which he had taken from Haman , and gave it unto Mordecai . And Esther set Mordecai over the house of Haman .

末底改托人回覆以斯帖说，你莫想在王宫里强过一切犹大人，得免这祸。

Then Mordecai sent this answer back to Esther : Do not have the idea that you in the king 's house will be safe from the fate of all the Jews .

末底改一定已经知悉哈曼仇恨整个犹大民族，他不会向这样一个人下拜，也不会将只属于神的尊荣归给人。

He must have already known of Haman 's hatred for the whole Jewish race and would not bow before such a man nor offer him homage which belonged only to God .

各省的首领，总督，省长，和办理王事的人，因惧怕末底改，就都帮助犹大人。

And all the chiefs and the captains and the rulers and those who did the king 's business gave support to the jews ; because the fear of Mordecai had come on them .

以斯帖照着末底改所嘱咐的，还没有将籍贯宗族告诉人。因为以斯帖遵末底改的命，如抚养她的时候一样。

Esther had not yet shewed her kindred nor her people ; as Mordecai had charged her : for Esther did the commandment of Mordecai , like as when she was brought up with him .

末底改奉亚哈随鲁王的名写谕旨，用王的戒指盖印，交给骑御马圈快马的驿卒，传到各处。

Mordecai wrote in the name of King Xerxes , sealed the dispatches with the king 's signet ring , and sent them by mounted couriers , who rode fast horses especially bred for the king .
