In Shushan the palace there was a certain Jew , whose name [ was ] Mordecai , the son of Jair , the son of Shimei , the son of Kish , a Benjamite ;

Then Esther sent them back to Mordecai with this answer .

于是末底改照以斯帖一切所吩咐的去行。
So Mordecai went away and did everything as Esther had said .

惟独末底改不跪不拜。
But Mordecai bowed not , nor did him reverence .

末底改被擢升至首相的高位;
Mordecai was elevated to the position of Prime Minister .

王在查问之下,才发现他还没有赏赐末底改。
Upon inquiry , the king discovered that Mordecai had never been rewarded .

人就把以斯帖这话告诉末底改。
And they said these words to mordecai .

于是人将哈曼挂在他为末底改所预备的木架上。
So they hanged Haman on the gallows that he had prepared for Mordecai .

王后以斯帖听闻末底改的哀恸,却不明所以。
When Queen Esther heard of Mordecai 's condition , she couldn 't understand it .

Tell Mordecai to assemble the jews .

And Mordecai came before the king , for Esther had disclosed what he was to her .

And when Haman saw that Mordecai bowed not , nor did him reverence , then was Haman full of wrath .

And when Haman saw that Mordecai did not go down before him and give him honour , Haman was full of wrath .

Not only did Mordecai put on every sign of mourning , but wherever the decree was published , the Jews reacted with fasting and weeping .

And Mordecai walked every day before the court of the women 's house , to know how Esther did , and what should become of her .

Then Esther the queen , the daughter of Abihail , and Mordecai the Jew , wrote with all authority , to confirm this second letter of Purim .

And Mordecai wrote these things , and sent letters unto all the Jews that were in all the provinces of the king Ahasuerus , both nigh and far

Who had been carried away from Jerusalem with the captivity which had been carried away with Jeconiah king of Judah , whom Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon had carried away .

And the king took off his ring , which he had taken from Haman , and gave it unto Mordecai . And Esther set Mordecai over the house of Haman .

末底改托人回覆以斯帖说,你莫想在王宫里强过一切犹大人,得免这祸。
Then Mordecai sent this answer back to Esther : Do not have the idea that you in the king 's house will be safe from the fate of all the Jews .

末底改一定已经知悉哈曼仇恨整个犹大民族,他不会向这样一个人下拜,也不会将只属于神的尊荣归给人。
He must have already known of Haman 's hatred for the whole Jewish race and would not bow before such a man nor offer him homage which belonged only to God .

各省的首领,总督,省长,和办理王事的人,因惧怕末底改,就都帮助犹大人。
And all the chiefs and the captains and the rulers and those who did the king 's business gave support to the jews ; because the fear of Mordecai had come on them .

以斯帖照着末底改所嘱咐的,还没有将籍贯宗族告诉人。因为以斯帖遵末底改的命,如抚养她的时候一样。
Esther had not yet shewed her kindred nor her people ; as Mordecai had charged her : for Esther did the commandment of Mordecai , like as when she was brought up with him .

末底改奉亚哈随鲁王的名写谕旨,用王的戒指盖印,交给骑御马圈快马的驿卒,传到各处。
Mordecai wrote in the name of King Xerxes , sealed the dispatches with the king 's signet ring , and sent them by mounted couriers , who rode fast horses especially bred for the king .
