豫西区以山地丘陵为主，耕地主要分布在伊洛河和汝河两岸，清代该区粮食作物以麦为主，水稻面积大减。

The western area is hilly and the cultivated land is mainly distributed along the bank of Luo river and Ru River . In the Qing dynasty , planting of wheat expanded in this area while the paddy decreased .
